An tUrlár Leice is a raw, powerful new flute album from Michael Hynes (Kilshanny, Co. Clare) and Kirsten Allstaff (Dundee, Scotland), recorded live in one take in Michael and Breda’s old cottage on a winter’s afternoon, sustained by tea and cake. Named after the old Clare tradition of placing a pot beneath the flagstone floor to create an echo for dancers’ heels, this recording carries that same earthy pulse — honest, unvarnished, and full of lift. With no accompaniment, it’s a pure two-flute sound that’s a joy to listen to — and a dream for accompanists to play along with.
